15 Things That Make Me Happy

Hey Everyone! So today is International Day Of Happiness! I thought that this is the perfect excuse for a blog post. Lately I've been feeling really down and upset about quite a lot of things. I've been going out and seeing people and friends to try and get me out of this funk I've been in but nothing seems to be working. However I've recently started bullet journaling and one of the things I've been writing down in there is things I'm grateful for and any little bits that have made me happy that day. I thought that today I would share with you 15 things that make me happy. Enjoy!

Long Walks On The Beach - This was one of my favourite things to do when  I was away in Mauritius a couple of months ago. The photo above is when me and my cousins decided to go and stay at a hotel for a couple of days away from family drama and we just chilled out and had such a lovely day. We decided to take a walk before dinner and as you can see it was such a beautiful day and the beaches are so beautiful. One of my dreams one day is to live beside the sea so that I can do this any time I want!

Shopping - There's no problem a bit of retail therapy can't solve...right? I love shopping. I think it's perfect for just clearing your head and getting a few things of your mind with the hustle and bustle of the shops and everything else. It definitely puts a smile on my face. Not my bank's mind you but definitely mine.

Binge Watching My Favorite TV Shows - I'm currently watching all my favorite TV shows from the beginning. I'm 2 episodes into the first season of 90210, half way through seasons 3 of Gossip Girl and Gilmore Girls and I'm even tempted to start Pretty Little Liars again from the beginning as I'm just obsessed with that show. I just think it's the perfect way to spend a day when you're feeling sad. Grab the chocolate or popcorn and just chill out in front of your TV or laptop and go on a marathon.

Raindrops On The Window - Now I am not going to lie here but I used to absolutely hate this. My room is the loft conversion which means I am in the roof of the house and because the windows slant the noise from the rain is louder than ever and used to really irritate me. However I have found it so incredibly relaxing lately. Who still tends to draw on the windows in cars and buses when it gets all steamy too? I've definitely got my hand raised! It makes me smile lots.

Hot Chocolate - I am not a tea or a coffee girl at all so when I am in need of a warm drink or need cheering up this is what I turn too! It just makes me so happy! Throw in a bit of cinnamon in there and I'll have the cheesiest grin on my face! I am absolutely obsessed with hot chocolates from Costa as well. They just taste absolutely amazing and as there's a costa where I work I drink them religiously at the moment.

Listening To My Favorite Bands & Singers On Repeat - I love music. Music is the one thing I rely on for happiness. I go nowhere without my iPod and I always tend to go to events that are music related. It just makes me so happy and I love that there's always music for whatever mood you're in. Whether you're sad, happy, energetic, angry music will always be there to calm your mood down. I love listening to my favorite music on repeat as well such as Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Collabro, The 1975 etc as well as music from musicals as well. I listen to everything apart from really heavy rock as well so there is always something out there for my mood.

Lazy Days/Weekends - Even though the photo says lazy weekends there's nothing I love more than having a full pyjama day with good food, netflix and just chilling out. It makes me so happy and is perfect for when you need a recharge too! I've currently got 4 days off from work which is well needed and I'll be relaxing most of the time as well as taking trips to the gym to get fit as well.

Fresh Bedding & Freshly Shaved Legs - I absolutely love fresh bedding. There really is nothing better than the smell of freshly washed and clean bed sheets. If you have shaved legs and then get into bed then you have yourselves a winning combination.

Sunsets - I just love watching all the colors light up the sky. Reds, pinks, purples, oranges - it's just so incredibly beautiful. I'm excited for the day when I can go abroad somewhere, head down to the beach and just watch the sun set in the distance. When I was on holiday I managed to get a quick snapshot of the sunset whilst I was in Mauritius. How stunning is this though?!

My Memory Box - I got this memory box a couple of years ago and when I came back from working in Turkey I decided to fill it up with special photos of me and my friends, concert tickets and just special things from my life so far. I still fill it up with photos and different momentos and it just makes me so happy to look back through it. It may look like a small box but contains so many amazing memories in it. I love just opening it up and having a look inside. It definitely cheers me up.

Travelling -  I absolutely love travelling. I have a degree in Tourism Management and studied it at college and school so it is always something I've loved. Nothing excites me more than a busy airport and getting to new destinations and experiencing new cultures. I've travelled to Mauritius, France, Spain, Turkey and also travelled domestically in the UK to places like Devon, Cornwall, Yorkshire and Scotland as my Dad is Scottish. I just love travelling and hope to visit places like New York, Australia and Greece in the next year or so.

Chinese Food - Chinese food is absolutely one of my favourite things in life. I don't know what I'd do without it. It just tastes amazing and I love watching Chinese cooking shows and recreating what they have made. It makes me so happy. Me and my dad are actually making our own chinese creation later today and I'm super excited to see how it turns out.

Mauritius - Mauritius is where my family on my Mum's side are from and I was so unbelievably happy to go there earlier this year. It was the first time visiting since I was 9 years old and I'm so excited to be going back in June as well! It's just so beautiful and is little paradise. I can't wait to visit it again and see things that I might have missed of my last trip as well.

Friendships & Family - Definitely two of the most important and special things to me. Being surrounded by an amazing group of people or even one person who just understands you and accepts you for who you are and just encourages you to be the best person you can be is definitely something that makes me extremely happy. Family can be quite tricky sometimes but we wouldn't be here without them at the end of the day.

Blogging - I couldn't end this post without including blogging. It makes me so happy and I find it really therapeutic. I find that I am becoming more confident through blogging and expressing myself and I am also developing a lot of new skills to when it comes to photography and writing. I've recently received over 300,000 views on my blog and I just find that absolutely mind boggling. I'm truly amazed at how far I've come since I've started blogging and I have all of you reading this post and who follow my blog. It means the world to me so thank you so much!

So there's just a few things that make me happy. I absolutely loved writing this post and I really did have a smile on my face all the way through writing this. I hope you have all had a worderful happy sunday and if you haven't I hope this post has cheered you up and made you think 'oh that makes me happy too'. If you can relate to any of these things then let me know in the comments section below.

  2. This is such a great idea! I'm so sorry you've been struggling recently, but you're definitely going about managing it the right way. When I was seeing a counsellor for my PTSD, she got me to write down at the end of every day three good things that had happened, however small they might be. I mentioned it to a friend who was having difficulty with depression & she found it really helpful too. I love the sound of bullet journalling, I've been trying to write a few lines in a diary for the past 2 years, but have failed miserably! I think I've managed to record about 30 days of the whole 2 years. I just forget to do it! I really should make a concerted effort to either get back to doing this or to start bullet journalling. Xx
